Item Description

Primary Definition:

The Item Description DOES NOT REPRESENT a data field. It represents a combination of fields depending on the merchandising that has been created for the item. Item Description can contain Short Description(30 Char) aka. Mainframe Description. The local companies 2nd Line Short Description(30 Chars) and or the PIM Item number (200 Chars) for the item. The Item Description preference should be to show the Item Name if it exists then the short descriptions. Our short descriptions have included Catalog Numbers and other data that can be used by customers to share our pricing. This is the reason why on customer facing documents we should use the Item Name as our Item Description when available.
